Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
(Neurologia Croatica)
Editorial Responsibilities
- The Editorial Board is responsible for deciding which articles are to be published based on their scientific quality, originality, clarity, and relevance to the scope of the journal.
- Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, without discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.
- Editors must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and editorial staff.
- Editors will take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred, including plagiarism, citation manipulation, and data falsification/fabrication.
Authors’ Responsibilities
- Authors must ensure that their work is original and that all sources and influences are properly cited.
- Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
- Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously.
- All authors listed on a manuscript should have made a significant contribution to the research and agree with its submission and publication.
- Authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
- If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the paper.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
- Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and may also help authors improve their manuscripts.
- Reviewers must maintain confidentiality regarding any manuscript received for review.
- Reviews should be conducted objectively, and reviewers should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.
- Reviewers must not use unpublished material disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
- Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Plagiarism and Misconduct
- All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software.
- Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, or manipulation of citations is considered a serious violation of publication ethics and will result in rejection or retraction of the article.
Retraction Policy
