Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
(Neurologia Croatica)
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement Neurologia Croatica is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics .
Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for deciding which manuscripts will be published based on their scientific merit. Editors evaluate submissions without discrimination and ensure a fair and unbiased peer review process. Editors maintain confidentiality and must not use unpublished material for their own research. Editors must withdraw from handling manuscripts in cases of conflict of interest.
Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers assist editors in editorial decisions and should provide objective, constructive feedback. Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and identify relevant published work not cited by the authors. Reviewers should not review manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists.
Duties of Authors
Authors must ensure that their work is original and properly cited. Submission implies that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere. All authors should have significantly contributed to the work. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and correct significant errors when identified.
Publication Ethics Issues
The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or falsification. All submissions may be checked using plagiarism detection software.
Handling Misconduct
In cases of suspected misconduct, the editorial board will investigate in accordance with COPE guidelines. Actions may include rejection of the manuscript, publication of corrections, or retraction of published articles. Institutions may be notified where appropriate.
Research Ethics for Studies Involving Human Participants
Neurologia Croatica requires that all research involving human participants complies with internationally accepted ethical standards.
Authors must confirm that studies involving human subjects were conducted in accordance with the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and were approved by an appropriate institutional ethics committee or review board.
A statement of ethical approval (including the name of the approving body and reference number, where applicable) must be included in the manuscript.
Authors must also confirm that informed consent was obtained from all participants, and that participants’ privacy and anonymity have been protected.
For case reports or identifiable patient information, explicit written consent for publication must be obtained. The journal reserves the right to request documentation of ethical approval and consent at any stage of the review or publication process.
Use of Generative AI
Neurologia Croatica allows the use of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) exclusively for language editing and technical improvement of manuscripts. Authors must clearly disclose any use of such tools, including their name and purpose, and remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content. AI tools cannot be listed as authors and must not be used to generate scientific conclusions without human validation. The journal adheres to international ethical standards, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics, and ensures that all editorial decisions are made solely by human editors.
